The requirement was to close two injection molded caps as they came out of the molding process.

The machine builders had provided quotes and envisioned a machine that would be mounted alongside the injection molding machine.

Reasons why the manufacturing company was not satisfied with the offers received;


1. Confidence in the solution offered.
2. Difficulties in integrating the solution and loss of flexibility in the use of the injection machine.
3. Cost - the offers were around 70,000 euros

Concept;

1. Use the existing machine robot to remove the product from the injection machine.


2. Use a redundant robot (which was being stored) to receive and handle the lids: close the lid.


3. Place the closed caps on the conveyor next to the injection molding machine.


4. Use the second robot to build stacks of products ready for placement through final packaging.

Robot new controls and software: 8000 euros
Parts purchased: 4000 euros
Internal machining: 4000 euros

Time; first discussion of the concept at the end of March 2020, functional tests of the installation on September 9, 2020

The system works 24 hours a day, 5 days a week

Cost: approximately 50% of the offers received
